Bringing Wooden Tiles to Life

Lately, my workshop has been buzzing with sawdust and creativity as I dive into several new wooden tile designs. At this point, I’ve sketched, cut, and tinkered my way up to nearly 70 unique concepts—and I’m still brimming with ideas.

After cutting and engraving, then you get to glue all the planks together to create the tile. Then comes making the tile look gorgeous by sanding, painting and/or staining, and sealing with too many coats of polyurethane to count.

Every batch feels like a new adventure. Some sets lean toward classic simplicity, while others experiment with bold patterns or playful textures. The fun part is that no two designs ever feel exactly alike—the wood grain and handwork make each one its own little original.

Working on this many variations has been a joy, and honestly, a bit of an obsession. Watching the tiles “come to life” from simple pieces of wood is the most rewarding part of the process. It reminds me why I started crafting in the first place: to turn raw materials into something beautiful, functional, and meaningful.

I can’t wait to share more of these designs as they take shape—each set has its own story, and I’m excited to see which ones will resonate most with you.
