Handcrafted Wooden Mahjong Tile Set – Chinese Wave Design Back – Riichi or American Style
Each Mahjong tile is crafted from five layers of high-quality basswood, hand-glued for durability, then sanded, stained, and precision-engraved using an xTool laser for sharp, clean detail. Measuring approximately 1.5" long, 1.125" wide, and 0.4375" high (38.1 mm x 28.58 mm x 11.11 mm), every tile is coated with a glossy urethane finish to protect the surface and bring out the natural warmth of the wood grain.
Tile Set Options
The Riichi set includes 36 Dots, 36 Bamboos, and 36 Characters (four each of 1–9), 16 Winds (East, South, West, North), and 12 Dragons (Red, Green, White). The American set adds 8 Flowers, 4 Seasons, 4 Bonus tiles, and 8 Jokers for a complete 160-tile set.
Made-to-Order
Each set is custom-made with about a 2-week production time. The back of each tile features a Chinese Wave design, inspired by traditional East Asian woodblock prints. Flowing lines and cresting curves capture the movement of water and the harmony of nature, representing strength, persistence, and renewal. This design pairs beautifully with any hand-painted or engraved tile fronts, making it a timeless choice for collectors and players alike.
